Black Girls Craft, LLC was started by Mary DeBoise, a self proclaimed crafter/DIY’er for 30+ years. She's a consumer of knowledge by nature so it’s nothing for her to spend hours on YouTube, Google and in Facebook craft groups feeding her creative desire.

With that said, Mary noticed a huge cultural disparity in the crafting world. African American representation was virtually non existent in the mainstream art realm.

BGC was born out of a necessity to have a safe space for women of color to come together to share and inspire.

BGC was born out of a necessity to have a safe space for women of color to come together to share and inspire. Over 5 years later, we are almost 200K strong filled with a multitude of talent, inspiration and sisterhood. We broke down barriers and built valuable and mutually beneficial relationships with big box craft companies. Items made for and by creatives of color are finally more easily accessible both online and in the craft stores!
